Javier hails from Guadalajara originally, but left with his family when he was 13 years old. They arrived in Charleston, SC where they would stay until 2016. During his time in the states, Javier worked for one of the top pizzerias in Charleston which is where he learned the trade. He stayed with the company for 5 years, being one of the top cooks they had, until he left back to Mexico.

 

Anna hails from Connecticut and lived a few places before settling down in Charleston, SC with her mother and sister. She started working as a barista in a high end deli & grocery, where she wiggled her way into the pastry kitchen to learn under the pastry chef there. She continued on in the pastry world until she had her first child.

 

Anna & Javier met during their time living in Charleston. While he was working at the pizza shop, Anna was a frequent customer and with the help of mutual friends, they eventually became a couple! When they were expecting their second child, they made the decision to move to Mexico. Two years after arriving, their far fetched dream of running their own restaurant has become a reality.

 

Purple Garlic Pizza Brothers was named for their two sons, Phoenix & Gryphon.
